My 2yr old started complaining of her neck hurting but that was the only symptom. Now 2 days later her neck is still hurting & she is running a fever of 101. She is very whinny & want eat but not vomiting. Does this sound like symptoms of meningitis?

  • No she can't put her chin to her chest. I took her to pediatrician they tested her for strep but was negative. Sent her to hospital to test for mono. But doesn't think it is meningitis.

  • She was outside for most of the day over the weekend but I was constantly spraying her down with off. I haven't noticed any bites on her

  • Meningitis Is characterized by a high fever, chills, headache, and vomiting. I would not suspect that. Is she still at the hospital? I would take her back if she isn't.

  • The hospital sent her home. They will call with the results tomorrow, this sorta makes me feel relieved because if they sent her home then surely it isn't serious or they would be more concerned. Right?

  • Yes. It's a good thing to be sent home. Just try and keep her comfortable.
