Diagnose me!

What virus/bacterial infection would cause:

A rash from my neck to my feet then go away 99% by the next day.
Go to bed with chills & very slight fever (99) at the most.
Wake up the next morning with massive joint pain
Continues today like it hurts in my knees & ankles to walk up & down the stairs & my wrists & back hurt & swollen glands in neck that is stiff.
No sore throat or sneezing.
I am thinking West Nile IMO, I got bit a few times a few days ago. (NY) But since my fever is gone I just have to ride it out.

I feel fine besides the joint pain & swollen glands.

Any other ideas? Thanks!

  • Have you been bitten by a tick? The rash and the swollen joints make me think of Lyme's disease.

  • Yeah, I was thinking Lyme's disease because if the joint pain. I don't know the symtoms of West Nile. I would contact your doc.

  • A virus but IF you suspect west Nile, that is actually REALLY serious. We have a cousin with it and he clued in on a bike ride when suddenly he had to quit and be taken by ambulance to the hospital. All his muscles quit. Evidently, at that point, it is super dangerous. So, not to freak you out but if you really do suspect W. Nile, get checked out. That said, it sounds like a weird virus but could be so many things, even an allergic reaction.

  • Go to the doctor, don't risk it being lyme or another condition that can be dibilitating. My cousin has lyme that spread to her brain and she is now unable to work and has trouble just functioning in life and is in pain 24/7
