  • The Half gallon of milk in Hawaii costs more than a whole gallon where I live! Damn!!

  • No sympathies needed. In California, I make 3-4 times as much as I would in the cheapest places to live. So it all does work out in the wash.

  • I thought Illinois would be on the list because Chicago is nutty expensive but I guess the rest of the state averages things out nicely lol

  • Lived in CA for a while, wouldn't go back even though I really enjoyed the time I lived there. The weather is great and there are tons of things to do, but cost of living has increased a ton and their state government is completely broke. I tend to be fiscally conservative so I don't see myself feeling represented by the state's government.

  • I've known a couple of people in Los Angeles who left because the cost of living there was just insane. My best friend from high school actually rented a room for $350 a month back in 1990, it was made out of a garage, uninsulated, cement floor, with the garage door still there.
