Why doesn't my 9 month old laugh?

My daughter is 9 months old and rarely laughs. She has laughed before but when I tickle her she squirms around and fights laughing so hard. She'll scream (in a playful way) and make funny noises but its like she doesn't want to laugh. She'll laugh every once in awhile but I know most babies her age laugh a lot. And no, she has absolutely nothing wrong mentally. She is very smart and happy and playful. Does anyone else have a stubborn baby that doesn't want to laugh?

  • Maybe her squeals and smiles are just the way she's choosing to express herself. Go with it.

  • You have to be funnier! My baby doesn't laugh much either.

  • Maybe you're trying too hard. Just enjoy her and stop trying to MAKE her laugh. She'll find something funny soon enough

  • Tickling can be a form of abuse or torcher maybe she doesn't like it. Try dropping stuff by mistake or making funny noises it's possible you are not laughing enough either. Some kids are smart and need intelligent forms of humour like puppets. Good luck
