Watermelon, now a crime, guess what we are in big trouble for?

On the 4th of July we opened a watermelon and it was not good, my kids and I proceeded to have a watermelon fight, I guess a couple of the rinds landed outside of our privacy fence, today I come home to open a letter for "illegal dumping", they said that there were corn cobs and watermelon that were outside of the fence, and now to avoid a yes, hold on to your hats, $1,000 fine, I have to appear in court.
Have no idea about the corn cobs, we do feed the birds corn, but I don't know. Waiting for the city manager to call me back in the AM!
Is this silly?

  • Sounds like my HOA. My husband got in trouble for parking his truck in our driveway.

  • The city coffers must be low! That's just insane. Unless it looks like one of Jeff Foxworthy's Redneck yards, I'd tell them to pound sand!

  • This is total bullshit. A few watermelon rinds and some corn cobs are considered "dumping?" I cannot believe it. You should threaten them with harassment!

  • Damn sam! I want to move to the city you live in, wherever it's at. It must be paradise, if the worst freaking thing the powers that be have to worry about is watermelon rinds and corncobs on the outside of a fenced yard.
