The D.O.J. went way over the line on this one, and IMO took a page from what the NBPP has done..

Except this time the DOJ are not offering a reward..
..."On Monday afternoon, the US Department of Justice appealed to civil rights groups and the general public across the country for “tips” on George Zimmerman in their pursuit of potential federal civil rights charges against the just-acquitted defendant in the Trayvon Martin killing. The DOJ actually went so far as to set up an e-mail address to allow such tips: Sanford.florida@usdoj.gov. The email address is slated to go operational by the end of the week.
Barbara Arnwine, president and executive director of the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law told the Orlando Sentinel that the DOJ had held a Monday conference call “calling on us to actively refer anyone who had any information” that would help build a case against Zimmerman. "They said they would very aggressively investigate this case,” Arnwine stated.
According to Arnwine, the call began at 3:30 p.m. with Tom Perez, Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Rights Division of the United States DOJ, and representatives of the FBI on the line. Several prosecutors joined the call, too.
Arnwine listed off other organizations represented on the call, including the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, the ACLU, and several “human relations” groups.

Also Monday, Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. said a speech at the social action luncheon of the Delta Sigma Theta sorority, that he shares concerns about “the tragic, unnecessary shooting death” of Trayvon Martin last year, and he vowed to pursue a federal investigation into the matter, the Washington Post reported.

Holder pledged that the Justice Department would work to “alleviate tensions, address community concerns and promote healing” in response to the case.""

Alleviate tensions?? Really? What the fucking hell is going on in our govt?!?! I mean seriously, calling on US citizens to find out where Zimmerman is so the DOJ can come up with fake evidence so they can try and convict Zimmerman for a hate crime?? The FBI already ruled that OUT! After interviewing nearly three dozen people in the Zimmerman murder case, the FBI found no evidence that racial bias was a motivating factor in the shooting of Trayvon Martin. Hell, even the lead detective in the case, that. Chris Serino detective told agents that he thought Zimmerman profiled Trayvon because of his attire and the circumstances, but not his race.

The DOJ is calling out for Zimmerman for violating Martin's civil rights. But yet our very own federal govt is violating Zimmerman's rights!!! Even in the beginning a special prosecutor Angela Corey filed charges even though a Grand Jury was already scheduled, she cancelled, got another hearing scheduled, and then she hid exculpatory information and other evidence from the defense. Other words, she hid the evidence that may have acquitted Zimmerman in the beginning.

I already know many of you think Zimmerman should be in prison, but come on, do you seriously think this should happen to any US citizen? To this degree? Regardless if Z murdered, or it was self defense, nobody should have to live in fear every fucking day of their lives. They should not have to worry about wearing ballistic vest before he ventures out. Has to talk to his family using code, will not be able to work because the potential employer will be afraid of hiring him. What happened to the "life, liberty, and the pursuit to happiness? Our DOJ should not be allowed to ask what they are asking of the public.

This is such bullshit! Why are people letting this happen? Why is it even allowed to happen? Does our constitution mean nothing anymore? What the DOJ wants to do is bordering on double jeopardy, yet another constitutional right being violated.

Is the federal govt seriously wanting a race war? Do you have to be black to be entitled to have civil rights? Because here lately, it sure is seeming like you do.

  • I really believe they are taking advantage of it to stir up race tensions and distract from all the other things that are happening with our government and the world climate in general.

  • What a total bunch of BS!! Eric Holder should be fired & the taxpayers should be refunded his salary & all the money he spent by bussing in people to protest. The justice system worked, a jury did their job- period! Time to move on! I'd say he's whiping his ass with the constitution, but he hasn't gotten even remotely that close to it.

  • Did you see the CNN interview with Rachel, Trayvon's girl friend. She said he thought he was being pursued by a homosexual, and Trayvon was "not like that." So it was not about race at all. The interview was by Pierce Morgan on Monday night. She said some other stuff, too.

  • A person is innocent until proven guilty. And, the prosecution must prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. The prosecution against Zimmerman didn't do that, even though it stacked the jury against him. If we do not respect rule of law, we lose our civility. We might as well be a boy lost on the island in "Lord of the Flies." But when our "leaders" (and I use that word loosely) choose to ignore rule of law, we should all be afraid. If rule of law does not exist for Zimmerman, it doesn't exist for any of us. This is no longer about the rights of a young man who, sadly, died almost 18 months. This is now about the right of every American to be able to live in a nation that still abides by rule of law, to know that if we are accused of breaking the law, we will be considered innocent until proven guilty, and that the jury's decision will be respected. If the DOJ wins here, we all will lose, regardless of our skin color.

  • There is NO way they can prove that it was racial- I don't see why they are going to bother...
    BUT
to say that "he thought Zimmerman profiled Trayvon because of his attire and the circumstances, but not his race. "

WHAT??? Only criminals wear hoodies- even in the rain?
    give me a freaking break.

I think it was at least partially racial- but there is no way they are going to prove it

  • That really frosts my ass. Zimmerman was acquitted. Let it be, for heaven's sake. Many, many people of all races are tragically murdered, Trayvon Martin is no better and no worse.
