Anybody know stuff about these? I know there's a risk of losing money with ANY stock trade, but is there ever a risk of OWING money or is the worst that could happen that you just lose what you spend?

  • There are many varieties of stocks, including where you sell a stock short (think of it as selling the stock before you buy it). You can wind up losing money if the value does not go down as much as you hoped.

  • If the value of a short stock goes above your sell price, you end up owing more than you put into it.
