Another dang chicken question...help me with this debate....

I cooked this whole chicken until meat therm said 175. It hit 180 once I let it rest.

I started pulling some of the onions out of the cavity and discovered it filled full of blood! Seriously full of it. I put it back in the oven. My SO threw a fit and insisted it would be fine to eat. He wants to eat it with all that blood inside it!!!

I say hell no. Who is right? Would you eat it like that? Serve it to kids?

  • I don't know if it would be fine or not, but I know I wouldn't eat it that way. Yuck! I'm on your side here.

  • I think it would be fine to eat from a safety perspective but I wouldn't eat it because of the yuck factor *shudder*

  • Nope! If it's running pink it's not ready. It may have been where you poked it with the thermometer or it's broken.

  • I'm sorry. My expertise is in "choking the chicken" not "cooking the chicken".

  • Been there, threw it back in the oven. No way would I eat it much less give it to my kids while still like that. (I don't put anything in the cavity so I have no idea if that affects anything.)
