Son had surgery ..need help with a problem

My son is 20 and had major surgery on his foot. He came home today but is in major pain. Our problem is he has a small port on his side (for bone graft) and wearing even loose basketball shorts comando style hurts it. My question is how can he go to the bathroom (he can not put any weight on his one foot) with my help in and out of bed (he's good once in with a walker) without undies or anything on.

  • he needs crutches and a wide loose belt.
he uses the crutches and the belt is held onto by you to prevent him from toppling over

you (or dad) escort him into the bathroom help him sit down
    he does his business
calls you and you reverse the procedure

keep a phone next to you so he may call you in the middle of the night

i did this routine when i was younger- its not that hard
everyone just needs to set pride and modesty to the side

  • rent a potty chair. Not the nicest thing but it works and affords some privacy and allows everything to heal with the least discomfort.
