Im looking for a new family car and consumer reviews are driving me crazy! I need real advice from real moms!

I have read so much about so many cars, and Im losing my mind. We are looking to buy a used car and to stay around $15000. I just need opinions on your favorite family car and why you like it and what you dont like. thank you!!!!

  • I recommend buying a "program" vehicle. These are cars that are usually less than 2 years old, with less than 33000 miles, still have a warranty on them. They usually are lease returns, rental cars, or even cars driven by the dealership. My parents ONLY bought program cars since when you buy new, the car loses value as soon as you drive off the lot. As far as type of vehicle, I HIGHLY recommend Saturn. We had a Saturn SL2 a few years ago. We never had any issues with it, and when my hubby had his car accident (major--he was hit in the driver side, right by the steering wheel, then spun across 2 lanes of traffic and hit a concrete barrier), the car was totaled but he was completely uninjured. They are GREAT for safety. The front panels are made to where they kind of absorb impact and "pop off". I would check with dealerships for a Saturn (even older models, 2002 and up, are great cars.

  • DON'T buy a Kia sedona minivan-Just don't. They seem tempting with their dual sliding doors and folding rear seats. But mine only has 65,000 miles and we have replaced to date:

    Transmission 2000
    Alternator
    Thermostat-wasn't really a big deal
    radiator
Door handles are broke on the driver side.
    and the list goes on.

  • For 15,000 you can buy NEW!

I drive a Kia Sedona and I love it. They all have a 10 year 100,000 mile warrenty and we bought ours new off the show room floor for around 15,000.
