I made parmesan crusted chicken breast. I made it with olive oil instead of the typical egg and milk mixture. I put in the oven between 350 and 375. Can the Olive oil catch fire?

  • Yes, just by baking. It may sound like a dumb question to most of you but I have had numerous kitchen fires and I am a little nervous. I love to cook and everything I make is delicious but I sometimes get something too hot and it catches fire. My fires usually occur when I am trying something new. Seeing how I have never used Olive oil in the oven I just was not sure. Better to be safe than sorry. Thank you to those of you who answered in a kind manner.

  • I always bake chicken breasts with olive oil and cooking wine and have never had any issues at all... then again I have zero experience in starting kitchen fires....

  • @anime_mom619, Hahaha, thank you. I don't know what it is with me! My husband thinks I do it on purpose to get a new paint job in the kitchen!

  • How old is your oven? Maybe it has nothing to do with your cooking but your appliance if it is old

  • I don't see why olive oil would catch on fire just from baking. The chicken sounds delicious. Enjoy!
