  • If you're ranking your family members, you're doing it wrong. He's your mother's husband, he's a member of your family.

  • That seems cumbersome. Couldn't they call him grandpa ______(first name)?

  • I would leave the step part out. I think that part is rather rude to him. Gramps should be fine.

  • Hmmm leave step out? But doesn't that put him on the same level as their bio grandparents?

and that matters, why? My stepdad is my dad and my sons grandpa, same as my bio dad is.

  • I have only ever called my step grandpa Grandpa. It never occurred to us growing up to call him anything different. Now if you feel the need to have your children differentiate between their grandparents you can always have him be called Papa. My sisters boys call my dad Papa because they were so confused over having 2 grandpa's so one was grandpa the other was papa.

  • " Hmmm leave step out? But doesn't that put him on the same level as their bio grandparents? "

This is the most asinine statement I have read today. Either have your kids call him by his name or by some form of Grandpa.

  • Why not just make it easy with grandpa John or whatever?

  • How can this be a new husband if they aren't married?
