When should I be concerned about bug bites on a baby?

I am not concerned, just wondering at what point I should be worried and what to look for?

Maybe even wondering what hives look like?

  • Are they oozing? Does she/ they have several? Are they more swollen than an avg. bug bite? What have you tried already? (Cortizone, Benedryl?)

  • She just has red bumps. I have not tried anything. I assumed they were flea bites but they are kind of big.

  • I'd rub some Cortizone 10 cream on them just so she doesn't itch them too much.

  • If she gets overly fussy, starts running a fever, or they get bigger/swollen, it's time to worry.

  • You might try calamine lotion. It's mild and it really works. It will leave white spots all over your baby where you put it on, but it soothes hives and bug bites beautifully.
