I thought this just fit here ...

To make it a question ... is CM the only place you experience these spelling errors or do you see it on FB and other sites as well?

  • I see it everywhere although, admittedly, more here than anywhere else

  • Irony
What you may think it means: a funny coincidence
What it actually means: contrary to what you might expect
It’s not ironic that you bumped into a talking turtle in a sweater vest right after you told your friend how cool it would be to bump into a talking turtle in a sweater vest. It’s a coincidence, and believe it or not, those two words are not related. Also, you should probably lay off the drugs because I’m pretty sure animals shouldn’t be talking.

  • laughingLOL!  I almost corrected a sign in a store once, but I didn't have a Sharpie on me. :p  I don't do FB, but I can imagine it's riddled with misspellings & other attacks on the English language.  I don't let the little ones bother me, but the text speak bugs me a little more.

  • mrsmom ... oh yes, FB is very riddled with it. Drives my sister up the wall. I have to keep reminding her to let it go. If she keeps letting it get next to her, her blood pressure will go through the roof.

  • everywhere...

  • Butchery of the English language is everywhere, unfortunately. Text speak makes me freakin' crazy. Try listening to it on a monotonous screen reader that pronounces words phonetically if they're misspelled or not in the dictionary, and that doesn't pause at all unless it encounters punctuation--and ... doesn't count.
