  • You could sign up for an account yourself using your own information, but the youngest I've ever seen allowed on a Web-based site like Hotmail or Yahoo is thirteen.

  • Our boys are 9, and 10, and have no use for an email account. It's up to you, there's no set age. When our oldest was 13 and I let him have a facebook account, his email was on kids aol. It kept the spam out of his email, and anything he shouldn't have to deal with. After he turned 16 I got rid of that, and he now has a normal email account. Even at 13 he didn't use it, as well as his facebook account. That was more to keep in touch with his siblings in another state.

    Like I said, it's up to the parent, but IMO, kids don't really need one.
