There use to be a group called Tough Love where parents helped parents with the problems associated with letting your child (regardless of age) accept the responsibilities of their actions.

They use to assign you 2 people that you could call to come in on situations (EX: jail) when you were called by the child to help. That assured the parent that they were not ignoring their child's need but handing over the situation to someone else. This reduced the amount of guilt that you did not go help but called someone who met the situation head-on.

  • I've never heard of such a thing. On a second note, if you start from an early age with discipline and consequences, you won't need that stuff later on.
