  • As much as he wants except before bed lol water has no calories or sugar and our body needs it to function. Make sure he also eats fruit and veggies....

  • Does your grandson drink milk, eat fruits and veggies, soups, Popsicles, etc? Is there a medical reason why you are concerned about his hydration? Most kids will self-regulate except that they may need extra fluids if they're sick or running around in the heat.

  • As much as he wants, although if it seems like his thirst isn't able to be quenched, it would be a good time to speak to his doctor about having his blood sugar tested.

  • My Son is 6 & drinks about about 5 cups a day on average. He weighs the same as your 4 year old. Put the water into fun sippy cups or get crazy straws.

  • He will drink when he's thirsty. There's no need to force him.

  • I would only offer him water until he gets accustomed to the taste. It won't take long. Or, maybe, instead of offering him a one for one deal (one small water = one small drink of his choice) you give him water all day and he can have the drink of his choice for dinner.

  • have a deal with him that for every 1 small water bottle of water he drinks he gets one small water bottle of his choice of drink. but it seems most days he's nursing the same bottle of water

  • Maybe try putting fun ice cubes made out of orange or apple juice. Maybe try different sippy cups or water temps? Good luck.
