I like this guy at work but not sure if he likes me back or is just being really nice because that's his job. How do you know the difference?

  • I would continue to just have a co-worker relationship with him.

  • I do not think it is a good idea to even think about dating a coworker. But I go by if he want to see you outside of work. A lot.

  • He is the manager at the restaurant I work at and I am a waitress. I think we are allowed to date, other people we work with date each other openly.

  • How does he treat other employees compared to you? If you are receiving more attention, he may like you.

  • How long have you known each other? What does he do that makes you think he likes you? It isn't necessarily a manager's job to be nice.

  • Don't date (or bang) your boss

  • I think it's a good idea to wait until be tells you by asking you out. Until then, assume he's just a polite guy.

  • Most companies forbid managers to date employees (that would be you). Check your employee handbook.

Dating within a classification or where there is no supervisory relationship generally isn't a problem. So you could date a waiter or a host with no issues. But manager/waitress can cause serious problems and is usually forbidden.
