Am I being rude, or do I have to sit there like a lump?

My husband's best friend is over, and they have been talking for the last hour, about our electric work being done outside, of course friend is critical of what we are doing, he is an electrical engineer, who I offered the job to at first.
I went in made my hammyburgers, went back out, still droning on and on and on. I just popped a beer, and sat down at the computer, am I a horrible person?
I just can't take another minute of it.

  • I would have wandered off to do my own thing, too. So if you're a horrible person, well, at least you have company.

  • Do what Staci said or just walk in & fart! LOL! I love a Jack of all trades & Master of none! That annoys me like crazy! Take a deep breath & pick a good movie for yourself for tonight :)

  • Heck no- who says you have to entertain hubby's friend too? I've done that before. Unless the wife comes along, I have no problem letting them have their guy time.

  • I would do my own thing too. I have actually and we aren't married yet. When I'm at my SO's house and his friend comes over, I will be polite and greet him, but then quietly slip away and do my own thing.

If you are worried about it, ask your dh about it later if he minded that you did your own thing. Chances are he didn't notice or just really enjoyed his guy time.

  • Go in there and start talking about your period.

  • How were the hammyburgers?

    Sorry, I just couldn't resist!

No, I can't stand one of my dh's friends. He drives me literally, to scream.

  • They're involved in their own boring talk... do your own thing too!

I would bust in and change the subject with more beers for everyone.

  • No wife, he is single, anyone need a date with a fairly attractive man, who is only focused on electric gadgets, and lawn care?
