Grrrrr "Pet" Peeve...vent

Why do people think just because their dog has an invisible fence they can let their dog run around in their front yard complely unsupervised? Do they think their dog won't cross the line? Cause guess what?! THEY DO!

  • Personally, I wouldn't do the whole invisible fence thing b/c I think the shock collar idea is mean. I wouldn't do the bark collar either. I know some people can increase the level of shock & it still won't deter them from doing what a dog does naturally while they're outside, explore. Hopefully the dog who got out in your neighborhood, LadyBug, was nice & didn't hurt anyone, or get run over or something.

  • My ex and I put in an invisible fence at one place we lived, a few inches back from the chain link fence that was already there, hoping it would keep our great Dane from getting too close to the stupid neighborhood kids who would always tease him and wave their hands at him and kick the fence on their way past. That dog ignored the invisible fence, which gave his collar a little shock, like it wasn't even there. It was the most wasted money we ever spent.

  • Actually they are advertised to lead people to believe that their animal is just as restricted with the invisible fence as with a wooden or a wire fence.

I do not always supervise my dogs when I let them out in my fenced yard. But guess what sometimes dogs get out of those too.
