  • Do NOT give adult vitamins to any child without instruction from a doctor. Vitamins are formulated based on the body's needs at specific ages and developmental needs. There is a such thing as too much of a good thing when it come to vitamins. A child could get sick or cause metabolic damage by getting too much of certain vitamins and minerals.

  • Adult vitamins are formulated for adults. So at best, the excess water-soluble ones like vitamin C will just be flushed out of the ten-year-old's body. At worst, the ones that aren't water soluble will be stored in his or her fat and potentially cause problems. A person can overdose on certain vitamins.
