I really hate my neighbors! i really need your advice

last night the people in the apartments across the street from us were having a party. then suddenly we heard a loud crash, and then tires squealing. turns out someone got wasted and drove into the gas meter on one of the buildings. there were three fire trucks and who knows how many cops were here. we live in public housing, so the cops called the person in charge of us so she was there too. they have new rules, all the partying has to be over by 11:00PM. no one follows that rule! there isn't allowed any guns or any form of weapons in the apartments. they broke that rule, one of the guys over there partying came out of his apartment carrying a huge silver gun.
and to make it worse, the cops and them didn't leave until almost 4, the people partying decided to finish their party right under our bedroom window! hubby called the cops on them because it felt like they wouldn't let us sleep. then they started throwing beer bottles at each other! cops came and broke it up.
ok that's the back story, here's the question: should i keep calling the cops or take it to housing?
we are so tired i just don't know what to think!

  • BOTH. This isn't an either/or. You do BOTH. Get the police reports to take them to housing.

  • I would do both. In most cities there is a noise ordinance that says things have to be peaceful by a certain time. If they are too loud, you call the police (after that time) If they are destructive and or disturbing your enjoyment of your apartment and/ or violating the rule you call the landlord or even higher.

  • Both! When's your lease up? I'd be looking to move if that kind of crap went on all the time. GL

  • oct is when it's up. i just can't wait to get out of here, it was soo peaceful here until they moved in a few months ago. now hubby's lucky if he gets the rest he needs. he works two jobs and is up from 5am til around 1am. and he won't switch rooms with the girls. he wants to be facing the driveway, he feels it's safer. and i love sleeping with the windows open. but with that noise we have to shut us up like were hermits. so far it's quite, but hubby's not home yet. so we'll have to wait and see.
