Transform indoor Glider chair into outside furniture?

I have a glider that DH failed to fix and it has been sitting in the back porch for months. It is just the frame now (I had to discard of the cushion). The frame is metal. Is there a way to protect the metal and make it into an outdoor-friendly chair?

  • You could coat it in an 'outdoor' spray paint to seal it... I think... I would... I don't guess I know if there is a better way though.

  • I was JUST discussing that option with DH! I'm not sure if outdoor paint is just "outside-safe" paint or if it has dual action and protects the surface too?!

  • It would be worth a try, painting, since the chair is metal and not wood. Maybe ask at your local home store, since te salespeople might know which products are best. I had a wooden rocking chair and a table that I thought were done with outdoor paint, but the weather ruined them.

  • Hmmm.... I would look for a corrosion resistant primer... like they use on cars...

  • Something like Rust-oleum, perhaps?

  • Use out door paint. Buy some cushions for out doors.
