Who wants to play doctor?

Mom is 65. Smoker. Mildly arthritic.

Her ankles began swelling. Dehydration, right? And just sitting in the same position for too long. No biggie, make a few changes. But!

Now she has sinus swelling and is thinking it may be an infection. She then dismisses that because she also has a running nose?

She then goes on to describe her headaches. 3 in about 7 days. One in left temple area, then center back then right temple area. (not in that order)

She doesn't think this is doctor worthy. Neither do I.

So, here is the question.
After a bit of research, could be tension, dehydration and arthritic headaches?
Does that sound about right?
So, relax, drink more water and take a Tylenol?

Anything else we should consider?

  • I'd also make sure her kidneys are functioning well. If she's having problems there, increased fluids may not be the best choice.

All in all, I do think a check up is in order

  • Does she have high blood pressure? Maybe a headache from that & swelling too. She may need a BP med with a BP water pill. I'm 46 & I take one with a BP water pill. If I miss a day or two those are my symptoms.

  • the ankle swelling is probably from arthritis, the sinus crap sounds like a sinus infection, it can cause headaches. I say take some Tylenol sinus and drink water lol

  • My mil is 65 had terrible RA, had some swelling, we assumed was due to heat, and drinking too much coffee, not enough water. She went to the doctor, and found out she was borderline diabetic.

  • She has quit smoking and lost about 20 lbs, her RA has improved, and the diabetes is under control.
