Do older children increase stinginess in younger children?

My 18 month old daughter has recently begun to act very controlling with her toys around other kids. She is rarely around her peers; in fact the only two children she is consistently around are a 4 year old girl and a 5 year old girl, separately. The older girls often demonstrate this jealous behavior with their toys and her toys alike. Now she is acting this way, and I am wondering if this is just the age when children start to be possessive, or if she is mimicking her playmates.

  • Probably a bit of both. Copycat behavior along with the fact that she's starting to know what "mine" is.
