  • depends on your state and county. You will need to check with a local school.

  • Odds are, no. I've never heard of mandatory pre-k, and depending on your state, kindergarten might not be mandatory as well.

    Where are you from?

  • No , no child has to attend pre-k but I know in this state if they are old enough for kinder they can not be enrolled in re-k- they have to go to kinder.

  • Pre-k is not mandatory. It's helpful for some kids to learn what is expected of them when they finally get into kindergarten. Like sitting and listening and doing work with the rest of the class. You might want to start working with your child with things she needs to know before attending kindergarten.

  • She probably doesn't have to go legally, but there are some benefits to going. I'm sending my daughter off to kindergarten, and I think she's better prepared for having a half a year of pre-K under her belt.

  • i'm in west virginia. i have heard from some parents that if the local school offers it they have to go and from others that it doesn't matter.
