Hi...... My last depo shot was Dec.2012 I was suppose to get my shot March 2013 but I didn't go. My question is, do I have to have a period to ovulate? I was on the shot for 3yrs.

I'm trying to get pregnant and I still haven't got my period yet. HELP!!!!!!!!!

  • I was on Depo for 4 1/2 years. My last shot was July 9, 2011.

    It can take 6-18 months to conceive after stopping Depo. You CAN start a BCP, but it will only force your cycle, not ovulation.

    And, if you're mathematically challenged like I am, I've been TTC for 2 years now.

    Depo wreaks havoc with your hormone levels, and it takes a LONG time to adjust back to your normal.

  • You don't necessarily need to have a period because you could ovulate and get pregnant before one comes, but trying to conceive will be hit and miss because there's no way to track your cycle of ovulation and menstruation.

  • Depo can take a while to get out your system and can cause changes. You my ovulate but no have a period. You may have a period and not ovulate. You might just need to give yourselves a little time.
