What to do with a 6yr old and a 2yr old on a day its too hot to go outside??

We planned on going to the park today, but its about 90 degrees and very humid outside. The park with the splash pad is too far to walk, since we don't have a car. Same goes for the beach. They have already made a tent, colored, played with legos and cars, and watched a movie. Im out of ideas, or maybe im just not creative, lol. Any ideas?

  • bake cookies, do playdoh, play in the hose if you have one, google arts and crafts for kids and find some printables or ideas.

  • If you want to play outside at your home, play with water balloons. I don't use the thin little ones make for holding water, I use regular balloons. If you don't fill them very full, they are very hard to bust. My kids have a blast trying all sorts of ways to pop them. They'll throw them high in the air, sit on them, stomp them. It's funny to watch and they play for a good long time.

Indoor ideas, my kids like to play with mini marshmallows and toothpicks. They build things like houses or animals. They like to play with shaving cream right on the table. They'll make pictures with their fingers, q-tips, they boys run cars and make tracks. That activity keeps my kids busy.

Be creative and most importantly, have fun!

  • The six year old should be able to come up with his/her own ideas. Right? Put a cape on the kid and let him imagine something.

Sounds too hot to bake and you don't want sugared up kids bored in the house.

  • Let them help you make Jell-O or pudding so you don't have to heat up your oven. Have a picnic on the floor. Do peanut butter playdough--equal parts creamy peanu butter, honey, and powdered milk. Fun to play with, yummy to eat.
