  • So it's just not ripe?

It depends. A true spaghetti squash to a pale ivory to a pale yellow in color. What is found in stores are orange spaghetti squash, known as "Orangetti". So, if your friend planted a true spaghetti squash, it could be harvesting time. If she planted the orange spaghetti squash then it may not be ripe yet. When did she plant them?
