Breastfeeding what's going on!!

Okay two days ago I was pumping 6 oz maybe even 7 (from both)yesterday and today I have been able to pump 4 or 5 if I'm lucky!? What's going on?? I work so I pump while I'm working but breastfeeding when I get home. My breats also feel soft and like they have no milk. I'm getting scared is my milk drying up!? I pump every two hours. Is there anything I can do to increase it more. What should I be eating in order to keeo my milk supply up?

  • Have you joined the breastfeeding group? Lots of great moms there to help with your questions. GL

  • Your body is adjusting to how much milk your baby needs. You can try pumping more often while at work if that feasible. But it's normal for your breasts to not feel as full or hard as they did when you started breastfeeding.
There are some supplements (fenugreek or mothers milk tea) but also pumping rarely does as good a job as your baby. I never got more than a couple ounces from pumping.

  • Near top of this page, on the left, go to 'Groups and Conversations', then to 'Parenting Talk and Advice'. You can find a breastfeeding group there. Don't know if there are others as well.

  • If the membranes are worn out they could not be getting as much suction which could drop how much you pump. That being said I would look more at making sure you have enough water and possibly taking some fenugreek. Oatmeal also helps supply a little, but 4-5 ounces is a good amount from one pumping session. You could try pumping more often. It sounds like your body is adjusting to what your baby needs and that is normal too. How old is LO and how long have you been pumping? If not long then you are simply adjusting.
