  • Try drinking 8-10 oz of water, take a warm bath and/or a walk around the block. If the contractions get stronger, closer together, you could be in labor. If they start slowing down or backing off, it is probably Braxton Hicks. Either way, you're probably early to go to the hospital unless you have a medical reason to go to the hospital early. :)

  • if you THINK your in labor your not, you will KNOW when you are in labor. if you have to question it... then most likely you are not.. the pain you get will be intense and you wont be able to stand the pain and talk through them at all..

  • i would call your doctor and see what they advise. Were you dilated at your last appointment? have you lost your mucus plug yet? if the pain increases i would go to L&D just to get hooked up to the monitors and find out. i was in that kind of pain for over 36 hours with ds. it is no fun. good luck to you

  • ANON ; Thats not always true, Someone are in labor and function fine & dont even know they are in labor...

    Are you spotting blood?
    Leaking fluid?
Are your pains in a pattern at all or is it just a constant pain?...
If its a constant pain it could be just your babys head in you pelvic... i get that all the time.. its just this crampy pain almost like a poop pain but intense... and some pressure... and it hurts getting up and down and moving... & its just her head in my pelvic area... and you are far along... im 33 weeks and feel that pain..
If it makes you feel better than check in with your doctor... just see what he says... Its better to know than not ya know...

This is my first baby as well so i call my doctor about everything lol... i dont care what people think about it... as long as my mind is at ease than im good :]

  • Most likely if you are in labor and your water hasn't broken yet, the hospital wouldn't keep you anyway. They will likely send you home to spend the first few hours of labor - unless you live a long distance from the hospital. Other responders are right - try a new position, walking, gentle stretching and see if it gets better. You are basically full term, so it could be the real thing. When everything progresses, you will definitely know if it is real or not. There is no mistaking labor pains once they get intense. It is just confusing in the beginning because they can be uncomfortable and unfamiliar, but not yet painful. Good luck - talk to your doctor about your concerns. That's why they make the big bucks!
