  • At that age children like visiting the petting zoo and other animal parks.

  • No two year old 'needs' a pet. In fact, a two year old isn't old enough for a pet IMO.

  • if he's too hyper for a yorkie, he's too hyper for any dog. wait until he is older and can understand how to respect animals, this is the reason why kids get bet. But sadly, the dog gets the blame.

  • I also suggest fish. That way he can look at them and learn how to care of a pet(feeding, etc) without being able to hurt it. Any other kind of pet, he might end up hurting it.

  • No he doesn't NEED a pet. My recommendation is he needs to go to the park and play with other kids. I would never get a pet for a two year old. Mom or dad will end up meeting it's needs. He is not old enough to be responsible for a pet.

  • I agree with every one else, he does not need a pet. Teach him to respect your terriers and then get him a stuffed dog that he can love and cuddle until he is older.
