Hot Dogs. Do you eat them?

What's your take on them? I keep hearing that they are a great source of protein, but looking at the packages for their sodium content, the lowest I could find are Oscar Mayer at 350mg per dog. The cheaper ones were weighing in at 600mg to 650mg each.

I usually don't eat them too much, but I was craving one. Of course I am trying to keep my sodium intake down due to BP issues.

  • We only buy the all beef- that's our only condition and they are, at best, a once a month treat. That stuff is pricey.

  • No, mystery meat to me, and I have not eaten meat in at least 16 years...

  • Oscar Meyers are my favorite.. I love the flavor and they don't give me heartburn.

  • Everything in moderation. I like crescent dogs, hot dogs in mac and cheese, and grilled hot dogs. I will take a brat (especially a beer brat that my SO has grilled) over a hot dog any day.

    We are grilling brats tonight.

  • Yes. They're horrible for you. Some brands make not-as horrible ones but I like the horrible ones. If I'm going to eat a hotdog I'm going to eat ones I like. Otherwise I just might as well not eat a hotdog! I don't crave them often anyway.

  • Growing up as a child we always ate hot dogs but I have not had one in years.

  • I do not.

  • Not as a habit. Once in a while if we're having chili I'll get some to do chili dogs, but I have not try very hard to not think about what's in them.

  • Not unless they're Hebrew National, all-beef hot dogs. Any other ones are nasty. I'm craving one, too, but I don't want to pay almost six bucks for a package of the only hot dogs I'll eat.
