Is it possible to get false pregnancy test results

I tested yesterday with a dollar store brand pregnancy test and got a positive result but my husband wanted me to retest today with a more expensive test so I used a clear blue test and got a negetive?

  • False positives are extremely rare

  • Well, one or the other is false. Are you late on your period yet? Did you test with the first urine of the morning? Did you read the tests right away? If they sit too long, they're not valid.

  • Try a third one. The dollar store test are the same ones they use at the doctor's office..

or go see your doctor for a blood test

  • I had a false positive with a dollar store brand. I wouldn't recommend them.

  • Yes. It is possible. Though being late already, I would think the more expensive one was wrong. Check with your doctor. They may want a blood draw.

  • Possible but unlikely. Get a blood test at the Dr.'s office or take another test using first urine of the day.

  • Some tests aren't as sensitive as others. FRER didn't work at all me for this pregnancy but the dollar tree brand did.
