Homemade Cleaning Supplies Question

Okay, I mix salt (regular table salt) and baking soda for my carpet deoderizer. It works really well, but I'd like to add something to give it a little scent once in a while. I have to keep it a light scent b/c of husband's nasty migraines (he keeps one all the time). I have thought about essential oils but not sure how to add them to the mix.

Any suggestions?

  • Do you have a food processor? I add essential oils to my powdered laundry soap and I do that by putting my powdered soap mixture in the food processor (which I only use for this lol) and then mixing it for a few seconds. That keeps it from clumping up

  • Hmm, not sure. You can try and see lol. I just wonder if it's powerful enough to really mix in the oil

  • The salt keeps the fleas away. Our dog was bringing them in when we would take her out for walks and they spread to the kitties. The crap that I bought was hard on all of us ... the smells and I worried about the chemicals. I ran across a site that said to regularly use salt, just regular table or sea salt when you vacuum to get rid of fleas. OMG! It really works!! and it also seems to help soften the carpet.

  • I think I may have an old one in the basement. That is a great idea! Thanks!

What about using a handmixer? I know for sure that I have one of those.
