Nintendo 3DS

Does anyone know if these will play regular DS games? I'm getting one for each of my kids this Christmas, and from what I can find out online, they either do, or they don't. So very unhelpful.

Would love to hear from someone who owns one if theirs will play them or not before I buy a few games.

  • The XL version has double the battery life.

Good to know. I am getting one for my son for his birthday.

  • They do. My kids keep the 3D off in some of the 3D games.

  • Oh yeah forgot to mention the new 2DS will resemble a tablet device. You won't be able to fold it closed. But at $129 you may want to consider it.

  • They do play both games. There is even a 2DS coming out very soon. It will play 3D games in 2D. Not exactly sure the selling point on it, but it is geared to younger gamers who might have problems with the 3D viewing, but still want to play the new games. You can turn off the 3D effect if it causes eyestrain.
