Follow Up To Thread "At what point do we stop bailing out?"

I thought this was a pretty good article (published 2 years ago), that discusses The American Dream, and the shrinking middle class, and includes some interesting statistics.

Unfortunately with the passing of the stimulus bill, I predict we're going to end up a sharply divided country of "rich and poor." I think the middle class (as we define it) is simply going to disappear--for quite sometime.

We've already seen "middle class exodus" from larger metropolitan cities over the past decade, I can only imagine what the next 2-3 years is going to bring!

  • At the moment I still see plenty of middle class people. As for the furture though who knows esp since we have so many who think they are entitled to things they did not work for. Some seem to think the constitution says they are lol when in reality we all have the right to PURSUE that is what it says it does not garuntee we will all get there...one thing is for sure though none of us would by holding our hands outs all the time.

  • What do you all consider middle class? 50k, 100k or 250k.

I know more than one very poor person who think people who make over 80k are rich.  I know a couple of rich people who think anyone making under 150k are poor.  So I can see why so many think the middle class have disappeared since there is no clear definition.  I have heard more than one Democrat say those making 100k were wealthy.  Most Republicans put the number at 250k so who knows. We are still here but if we don't get real tax relief and bailouts continue we will disappear. I am not sure the middle class can survive Obama.
