  • Thirty-seven weeks is considered full term. Do you have a C-section scheduled for thirty-seven weeks? Has your doctor explained to you why you need to have the procedure then instead of at forty weeks?

  • CAN, yes.
SHOULD, not if at all possible.

  • Yes, you can.

My second was a 37-weeker and a C-section for health reasons. He was planned to be delivered at 38 1/2 weeks, but it didn't work out that way. He's 10 now, and he's a perfectly normal boy.

Be certain you understand WHY it is necessary to deliver your baby at 37 weeks. Although it is considered full-term, if you can carry longer, it usually is better for the baby.

  • The March of Dimes recommends waiting until 39 weeks for elective deliveries. Now if you have a real medical situation that is another thing.

  • Best to talk to your doctor about this.

  • and PLEASE take easy after
i over did it and when i went off pain meds from surgery, i found i had the worst headaches ever (and i know migraines)
these were "spinal headaches" from surgery- i did not take it easy enough
these lasted forever, and you would not wish these on your worst enemy

  • You *can*, but it's better to wait until 40 weeks so the lungs can finish developing.

  • If you are having a c section why not wait until 39 weeks?
