Mail order brides....

Exist! My husbands brother is marrying one from Thailand, she speaks no English. He speaks no Thai. She's a hot 20 yr old. He's an obese, bald dickass 55 yr old!

I don't want to go to this crazy wedding. I'm not going, DH thinks I'm being unreasonable and a racists. I'm neither, but I think this is nutter butter crazy.

To go or not to go?

  • I'd feel sorry for her too, marrying what you describe as your BIL.

Maybe learn a few Thai phrases to welcome her to the family before the wedding?

  • Yep, I know someone who got one from Russia. She learned American ways real fast, brought over her family & eventually divorced his ass. You can go to the wedding & your gift to her can be English classes. You can befriend this poor woman & teach her some things. At least pity the poor thing, since she probably did this to help support her family.

  • I would go to the Wedding. Imagine how bad her life is there to come here to marry him. Hopefully she'll be happy & if not then get her citizenship, a job & divorce him. Poor thing. My heart breaks for these people. They are stronger than me, I will say that for them :(

  • I admire a woman like that, who is willing to deal with almost anything to make a better life for herself or support her family. I think learning a few Thai phrases to welcome her, and giving her the gift of an English as a Second Language course might be nice gestures. I hope your husband's brother will be decent to her, and maybe your husband will set him straight if he isn't.

  • Sounds like the new lady could use a friend! She'll learn English soon enough. Congratulations to the new couple... Even if it is a little strange to us. Hope it works out for them.

  • My dad owns rental property and one of his long time renters did the mail order bride thing. She has been here for about 7 years now. They have two kids together and they both seem genuinely happy.

  • That's gross. I wouldn't go.

  • I would go just for the absurdity of it. I do agree with mrsmom though...How horrible her life must be there to come here for such a life. I would reach out to her.

  • You must go, and you must post pics. Your gift should be to take her for birth control. Then teach her how American women get half of everything when they get divorced.
