Hardboiled some eggs on the stove at 10am, went out and am back before 1pm, left the eggs on the stove- are they okay?

Title says most of the story

Eggs were boiled and stove turned off then I went to play time at the library, less than 3 hours later I've come home and *facepalm* I didn't refridgerate the eggs

Aside from possibly overcooking them and making them green, are they safe to consume?

  • Ever been to a bar and seen the eggs sitting on the counter in a jar? Lord knows how long those have been there, you are safe, and they will peel easily.
You didn't leave the stove on and boil them the entire time right?
PS- you are a hoot, but you leave more food out than anyone I know, LOL!

  • they can stay out unrefridgerated for up to 24 hours by food service standards(which means they are good for even longer generally).
