Does your child participate in Destination Imagination?

If so, how do they like it and how much of a commitment is it for the parents? DS expressed a interest in joining, but he didn't mention a team that he wanted to join or which of his friends are planning on participating.

  • No, but they have participated in Odyssey of the Mind which sounds very similar. From their experience, it all depends on the team as far as the fun involved, but it was always rewarding.

  • As far as I can tell it's like a group of kids and a parent (parent is the team manager but is not to help or lead them - really more there to make sure they stay on task) that have to complete challenges to compete with other teams. There are different challenges (one of them was to make duct tape costumes). The kids have to use their creativity and innovation to complete their task and then a panel of judges appraise their work / solution.

He's not sounding entirely too interested in it anymore though.  Oh well.
