Hawaiian party tomorrow, first of all I am glad I took your advice on the dress size-second can you help me with food?

I am to bring a dish, I have no problem taking crock pot or whatever, I would like to make something Hawaiian themed, and am sure my go to sweet and sour meatballs will be something that others make, any suggestions?

  • I always make Kahlua pork in the crock pot and sticky rice with macaroni salad (double the recipe for a large group)
    2lbs pork butt or shoulder
    sea salt
    2T liquid smoke
    1/2C water

Put the pork butt in the crock pot and rub the sea salt all over the pork, then mix the liquid smoke and water together and pork into the crock pot, not over the pork but to the side so you don't wash off the salt. Cook on low for like 6 hours. Shred it and keep the meat in the watery sauce. Serve over sticky rice and a side of macaroni salad, it makes like a Hawaiian lunch plate.

  • I think you will have enough rolls per meat. You might have more rolls than meat, but a lot of people like those rolls by themselves.

    BTW Spam is gag-worthy haha

  • Yes especially those sweet Hawaiian rolls, I love to serve it with Tonkatsu sauce, made in the actual Hawaiian restaurants but I haven't found a recipe I like yet. Its basically ketchup, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, sake, ginger and a little sugar.

  • Yum, I'm hungry now. I was going to suggest fruit kabobs with lots of pineapple. But I like the pork sliders idea much better.
