Settle a debate please!

I'm trying to teach this idiot to cook. He debates everything. I swear I may kill him. Please settle this debate.

Do you drain and rinse canned veggies or do you dump the water from the can into the pot?

  • I drain them (some) like green beans , I do not rinse, but I have a strong dislike for canned anything, except for beans, as o
In pinto or northern, and those I do rinse.

  • In the grand scheme of things though, is this something worth fighting over?

  • in the grand scheme of things, it doesn't matter

use the can water = more salt, drain and rinse = less salt

Unless you're on a low salt diet, you were probably going to add salt to them after it was cooked anyway. Add less if you use the can water.

  • O just open the can, pour juice and veggie in a pan and eat. I've never heard of draining them first.

  • Everyone cooks differently, I would say sure you can use the canned water but I prefer not to. Certianly not worth a debate over. He is willing to learn to cook, I would try to keep the stress down, he could just throw his hands up and say forget it.
