  • Mine is starting slowly. At 12 I allow powder, clear mascara, and lipgloss. I'm thinking 14 for blush, 15 for light eyeshadow and 16 for everything else. But I am very big on makeup enhancing rather than covering, and I am teaching my dd that.

  • i didn't wear make up til i was over 18 years old... my mom never taught me or bought it for me. i think when they start highschool is a good age to let them wear subtle make up (blushes, lip gloss, eye shadows, etc)

  • high school for the most part, maybe some in middle school. But it really all depends on the child & the event.

  • Depends on how much make up you are talking about? Mascara, 13, 14. More, 16.

  • I'd encourage her to practice at home at twelve or thirteen so you can help her learn to put her war paint on lightly and tastefully. Then maybe let her go out when she has gotten the knack for doing her face up nicely.

  • Frankly, wearing makeup is not an obligation. If she's not interested leave her alone.
