  • Nutritionally they aren't great but if she cut it up and he's used to solid foods, it's fine. Mine were eating all table foods well before then and could have eaten a cut up hot dog easily at that age

  • I would never give my baby hot dogs (because they are disgusting). However, my daughter was completely eating solids by 9 months. Every child is different. My son didn't eat solids until almost 13 months, you can't compare her baby to yours. Did the baby choke?

  • Google baby led solids and you'll learn your baby can eat all kinds of things besides purees. In fact, if baby can only eat purees then he shouldn't be on solids yet.

But hot dog... well, not something I'd choose!

  • We did that with ours. Cut up into really small pieces, then only gave a few pieces at a time. While hot dogs aren't very nutritional, I don't see the problem here.

As a side note, my daughter didn't cut her first TOOTH (yes, only one) until she was 11 months old. To go by your logic, she should have never had any real food until she had all her teeth, which would have put her closer to two before she got to eat real food. Yeah, that didn't happen. She was a master at gumming things to death, and she had some sharp little gums too.

  • That is just way too young to be eating that!! They don't even have all their teeth at that age!

  • I wouldn't choose hot dogs because they are gross, but as long as the bites are small it isn't an issue.
