Will the positioning of my placenta have any effect of a vaginal delivery?

When I went for my 20 weeks scan they informed me that my placenta is low and anterior. Well, I just recently had another scan done at 30 weeks and the baby is head down and pretty much using the placenta as a pillow so not only is the placenta out front but pretty low down.

Will this have any effect of delivery?

  • If the placenta is blocking the cervix I assume a vaginal birth would be a no no. Did your doctor discuss in length the possible complications?

I would request a talk if not. You deserve to know.

  • Unless the placenta moves up and away from the cervix completely, you will need a c-section. It is a wait and see game at this point.

    Good luck!

  • 30 weeks- placenta is not going anywhere
but assume your doctor would inform you IF c section was needed

    some doctors are not bright
my first one did not see issues and saw a 2nd opinion, 2nd one said 100% c section as my placenta was blocking 100%
and this was before 20 weeks

    i would ask doctor
    and prepare for c section

IF any doubt in your doc
    seek 2nd opinion
planned c section MUCH better than emergency c section

    good luck
