Why does UPS transfer packages to USPS to deliver instead?

Just wondering. This is a relatively new thing I think.

  • Mail Innovations. UPS gets the mail to bigger facilities for sorting with USPS. It's cheaper somehow and takes longer to get to you.

  • there is a shipping program called surepost that many companies are using to save money on shipping. This process allows the software to choose who is delivering the package to the door ( the last leg of the delivery if you will). It is for smaller packages.

  • They've been doing it for a few years. It bugs me.

  • I asked this the other day at our post office. They contract with them.

  • I don't like it, either, because then I never know if a package is going to be brought to my door and handed to me by a UPS driver, or jammed into my mailbox or thrown on the porch by USPS.

  • I've seen it happen- usually with an envelope or small package. My ginormo dildo boxes still come on the truck.
