UGH!! Why??

Why do all costume designers assume every woman want to be a sexy/slutty whatever? I can't even enjoy Halloween anymore. My daughter wants to be a pirate. Not a hooker pirate, just a pirate. Five of the six costumes we saw started to late and ended to early. If your boobs weren't almost popping out your butt was. Really?? My kingdom for a bit of modesty please. Anyone else?

  • We always make our own costumes, or at least piece them together with what we can find at thrift shops. We even make our own props. You should see the Jack Frost staff my oldest made for NDK this year... it's amazing!

  • get her a boy pirate, or better yet, make your own, I am thinking stuffed parrot on the shoulder, long black wig, boots, and an eye patch!

  • LOL! I hear ya. I got lucky last year mine wanted to be a cowgirl & we had all the stuff right here- didn't cost me a penny. This year she wants to be a nerd. Again, we have everything right here (may have to get a pocket protector). I guess you can put a shirt underneath the costume. If you live where it will be cold by that night, that's probably what you'd be doing anyway.

  • It's crazy. At least around here, if you plan to go out, you'll freeze your sexy little boobs or buns off. We often have snow for Halloween.

  • I'm just amazed at what they will sex up these days. I've seen slutty nerd to slutty teenage mutant ninja turtles. Even Iron man and Captain America aren't safe.

  • I just saw this thing on you tube, it had pictures of costumes made before 1940 omg they used burlap sacks and wax masks and it was about being scary not sexy. But they the whole consumerism thing started and people not wanting to scare children. And tada we have sexy 9yr old knocking at your door. lol We go to Value Village and buy used clothes to make costumes it's way more fun and memorable that way!
