Are babies harder than older children?

This was going on in a FB discussion the other day. I had one friend who said she longs for the time when her now older children were babies, a simpler time. Her sister, who just had a baby, claimed she forgot how it was with a baby. Most of us responded that we do remember and it does seem like those baby days were a much more simpler time. So what are your thoughts? My husband said he recalls it being a more tiring time but joyful. Compared to now it may not be as physically demanding but certainly more emotionally draining. I can agree with that.

  • The more babies are able to move, the tougher it gets!

  • I think babies are harder. They can't do anything for themselves,so you're constantly running

  • every age has it's good and bad sides I think (mine are now 17 and almost 20)

I'd say the hardest time though was like 2 1/2 to about 5

    and then middle school...

  • I think every age has it's challenges and positives. I have a preschooler and toddler, so I can't really speak for older kids, but I know I enjoy sleeping for more than 3-4 hours at a time, but my DD16 mo old makes the day challenging by throwing her peas in the floor and head butting people, and she's a climber! I can't turn my back that child; she's a mini tornado. She's cute though, and she likes to give kisses, but they are usually followed by a head butt so beware. Lol

  • I had a good friend always tell me this: little children, little problems, big children, big problems.....and adult kids are the worst because they are on their own and all you can do is stand by when problems arise.....

  • I don't know about older kids cause mine is only 8, but I will say about 2-4 has been the hardest so far. Babies are pretty easy!

  • Babies are needy, but they stay where you put them! Older kids are still needy, but they climb, jump, run, argue, and get into everything.
