What are your 1st thoughts when you hear about a 13 month old baby....

found unresponsive in a pond at a park?
I'm wondering what the parent(s) were doing while a tiny baby wanders away and drowns
This just happened in my area today.
So far the child is alive.
A nurse was the one to find, and give CPR to the child.

  • God help me. My first thought is a prayer that the baby pulls through, alive and healthy. My second thought, coming very quickly on the heels of the first, is that if someone was neglectful or cruel, I hope fate or karma or some other unseen power takes a pound of flesh out of his or her ass, and soon.

  • Who lets a 13 mo old run around at the park?? Kids that age can hardly walk unassisted

Especially if there is a body of water nearby.

  • (My 10 month old can walk very well unassisted, but that's beside the point. My other 4, at 13 months, not so much :P)

My first thought is where the hell are this kid's parents?

  • My first thought is to hope that they recover. It only takes a few seconds for something bad to happen.

  • My first thought was oh dear God please let that child live. What a horrific scenario, my heart aches just imagining.

  • My first thought is what a tragic accident. I don't automatically think the worst of the parents. Mom could have simply taken 2 children to the park to feed the ducks. One falls down and while tending to that child's scraps the other wandered off. Was someone harassing her and she let her attention slip from the children?

I would hope that if this would happen to one of my children that people would give me a chance to tell my side before judging me. Accidents happen.

  • There is so much I don't know.
I wait for details and do a little praying.

  • It's a good thing that the nurse was there to do CPR. I hope the child makes a full recovery. As for the parents.... the jury is still out on that one
